Caitlin was born and raised in regional Queensland where she spent most of her time outdoors, at the beach or playing sport with her three older siblings.
Caitlin excelled at sport as a junior and competed for Queensland in hockey and athletics, winning national medals in athletics and obtaining selection in national junior hockey squads.
When Caitlin completed school, she decided she wanted to study law as she loved reading and she loved a good argument. She chose to continue training in the sport of athletics, as she was able to incorporate her training sessions around her university and work commitments. She competed as an elite athlete until 2012, when she retired from the sport to start a family.
During her athletics career, Caitlin represented Australia at two World Championships, a Commonwealth Games, a World Junior Championships and a World Cup event. In 2006, she won a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne as a member of the 4 x 400 metre relay team. Caitlin remains actively involved in sport at various levels. She is currently a member of the Athletics Australia Selection Committee for national teams, a member of the National Sports Tribunal Legal Assistance Panel and is a panel member for the AFL Queensland Tribunal. She also enjoys assisting with her children’s various sporting activities.
